Portland Waterfront Marina Family Portraits

This sweet family was such a pleasure to photograph! Rebecca contacted me for her family portraits letting me know her kids are a bit shy at first and wanted fun and candid imagery. When I hear kids are shy and may not be too keen on having their photograph taken, I approach it a bit slow at first and make sure I get on their level and chat with them a bit before we start, finding out what they like to do or ask them about any special fiends they have. I have some tricks up my sleeve to get kidos involved or engaged in the process and have a little fun while were at it. It also helps when parents are silly and playful with their babies, having them play fun games or tickle eachother and so on. Sometimes I even let them take a photo of their parents with my camera (don’t worry Im right there with them)  and letting them see the art they created.

Kids are such a blast to photograph, all of them unique and special in their own ways, and I am a firm believer that if you want a successful family portrait session, you need to get on their level and let them play. For this shoot, we ventured down to Riverplace Waterfront near the Marina and had the best time! Rebecca and Joe are the sweetest parents, and so gentle and kind with their babies, it was truly a joy to get to know them and capture this time for them.

If you are thinking about scheduling family portraits this Spring or summer, I would love to get you on the calendar and suggest doing that sooner then later as we gear up for wedding season. When photographing you during this pandemic, we are always taking those safety precautions seriously and always wear a mask and stay a safe distance away but I promise you, we are still able to capture beautiful imagery in the process. Head over to fill out our BOOKING FORM and lets get you started!
